Your Drive books, and your place in them, on every computer.

Ribbon is a desktop PDF reader for Windows and Linux. It opens the PDF books stored in your Google Drive and remembers the page you reached, so you can pick up exactly where you left off on any computer.

What Ribbon does

Finds books in your Drive

Search your Google Drive for PDFs by name and add the ones you are reading to your home screen.

Remembers your page

Your home screen shows each book with its page, percentage, and a bookmark ribbon at your place.

Continue anywhere

Progress is saved in a private, hidden folder in your own Drive, so another computer picks up the same page after you sign in.

Works offline

Books you have opened are kept on your computer, and your progress syncs when you are back online.

How it works

  1. Sign in with Google. Sign-in happens in your normal web browser. Ribbon never sees your password.
  2. Search and add a book. Type part of a file name, then choose Add to my books. It appears on your home screen at 0%.
  3. Click the book to read. It opens at your saved page. When you close it, your progress is saved and the home screen updates.

How Ribbon uses your Google data

Ribbon asks for the following Google permissions, and only uses them for the purposes described:

  • drive.readonly – read-only access, so Ribbon can search for and open the PDF books you choose. It never changes, moves, or deletes your files.
  • drive.appdata – a hidden folder in your Drive that only Ribbon can see, holding one small file with your reading progress.
  • openid and email – to show which account is signed in.

Ribbon has no server operated by its developer. Your data travels only between your computer and Google, and is never sold, shared, or used for advertising.

Ribbon’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Read the full Privacy Policy.
